A selection decision table is a structured table that helps analyze various conditions and their outcomes to make informed decisions. By using a selection decision table, you can systematically examine different scenarios and determine the appropriate choices based on the given conditions. It is trailed by the candidate’s qualification. In the procedure of selection, two conditions are compulsory, they are
- Primary
- Additional
There are two types of selection decision questions:
- Type 1: In such type of questions, vacancies are created by the employers and to fill them the recruiters define certain eligibility criteria or prerequisite qualifications along with some exceptions.
- Type 2: In such type of questions, certain courses or benefits and the eligibility of a student to join them are given. Along with it, the qualifications of the applicants are also given.
Rules
- Make a table using the following information given in the question,
- Firstly write the symbols of primary conditions (as a, b, c) and additional conditions (as I, ii, iii) to the top row of the table.
- Read each information in the question carefully and link the details provided with numerous conditions one after another.
- Put appropriate mark (as✔ or x) in the table beside the condition which is fulfilling and which is violating.

- A selection decision table is typically represented in a tabular format, with rows and columns.
- The conditions or inputs are the factors that influence the decision-making process.
- The actions or decisions are the possible outcomes or choices that can be made based on the conditions.
- Decision tables allow for easy comparison of different conditions and actions.
- Decision tables follow a logical structure, where the conditions and actions are organized in a systematic manner.
