The Hen and the Egg
A hen and a half lay one and a half eggs in one and a half-day.
How many eggs does one hen lay in one day?
Also, find how many hens will lay one dozen eggs in 6 days?

Solution
According to the qs,
1.5 hens lay 1.5 eggs in 1.5 days.
Let us consider an equation :
1½ hens × 1½ days × r = 1½ eggs [ r= Rate]
3/2 hens * 3/2 days * r = 3/2 eggs
Multiplying both sides by 2/3
1 hen * 3/2 days * rate = 1 egg
Solving the equation and multiplying it by 2/3, we get
r = 2/3 of an egg per day.
Thus, one hen lays 2/3 of an egg in one day.

Now we know the rate of laying eggs per day.
To find out , Hens be H , eggs = 12 , days = 6
H hens × 6 days × 2/3 = 12 eggs
Solving this equation,
H= 3
Thus, 3 hens to produce 12 eggs in 6 days.
