Every year, TCS holds the National Qualifier Test (NQT) to select new candidates for the TCS Ninja and TCS Digital roles.
The pattern for TCS NQT exam is as follow:

Has TCS NQT Written Exam pattern has been changed?
Yes, there is a complete change in TCS NQT 2024 Placement Exam, now the whole exam is categorised in 2 parts
Part A: Foundation Section
Part B: Advanced Section
When is the test scheduled?
The test would be scheduled from Friday, April 26th Onwards . Exact date of test with venue, and schedule would be shared with the candidates through our test partner TCS iON closer to the test dates.
When is the last date to register?
The last date to register is Wednesday, April 10th 2024. Look over the registration process for detailed analysis.
What is the TCS NQT Integrated Test Pattern?
TCS NQT is an integrated test of 190 minutes duration consisting of two mandatory sections:
Part A: Foundation (Duration of 75 minutes, with sections on Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability and Reasoning Ability).
Part B: Advanced (Duration of 115 minutes, with sections on Advanced Quantitative and Reasoning, and Advanced Coding ability).
Do TCS NQT change their selection criteria every year?
Yes, TCS is very dynamic with their selection. They keep on implementing new things in their selection .
Do I need to create my profile under 'BPS' or 'IT'?
Create your profile under IT.
What would be the mode of the test?
The test will be Offline. Candidates will be asked to visit the TCS Centre.
Where would the test be conducted?
The test will be conducted in the TCS iON Centers. When applying for the test, candidates will get the option to choose locations as per their convenience.
My NextStep account is locked. How can I unlock it?
Request you to log on to https://nextstep.tcs.com/campus/#/
- Click the “Unlock Account & Reset Password” link on the Login screen. You will receive an auto-generated email for resetting the password after 15 minutes.
- Please do not click on the link repeatedly as every time you click on the link, it will take another 15 minutes to generate the new password before it is sent to your registered email address.
- Request you to use a Desktop / Laptop. Please clear the cache, history and cookies and use the latest version of Google Chrome / Edge.
Which branches are Eligible for TCS NQT 2024?
For B.E./ B.Tech all streams are eligible like CSE, IT, ECE, ME, CE, etc
But for M.E./ M.Tech only circuital branches like CSE, IT, ECE etc are eligible.
What are the steps to register for National Qualifier Test (NQT)?
Following is the step-by-step to register for “National Qualifier Test (NQT)”:
- Click on “REGISTER NOW” button on the TCS page
- Login with your TCS Next Step credentials, if you are an existing user
OR
- Sign up if you are a new user and enter all the required details. Once you have completed the sign up, you can proceed with the NQT registration.
- Fill in all the required details once the registration page opens.
- Click on “Submit” to complete the registration.
- You will receive a successful registration message on your registered email ID/mobile number.
- You can view the registration details from the above tabs like Academic and work details, other details etc
- Agree to TCS Terms and Conditions.
- Now apply option will come for TCS Recruitment Drive and choose the test mode according to your preference.
- Note: Please ensure that your email ID and mobile number are correctly entered. All test related communication will be sent on the email ID/mobile number provided by you
I have applied for the drive but have not got a confirmation e-mail, what should I do?
You will not get any confirmation email. You can log in to your next step portal to check your application status.
What if I already have a CT / DT reference number? Do I need to register again?
No, if you have filled the form correctly earlier, then you do not need to register again.
I have forgotten my CT / DT Reference ID. Where do I get it?
You will receive the CT/DT Number in your email.
Can I change my photo in the application form?
Yes you can change it. Make sure you update a recent photo.
I have incorrectly created my profile under 'BPS'. What should I do now?
Please write to tcsbps.support@tcs.com for the deletion of your profile under BPS. Once your profile has been deleted, please create a new profile under IT.
I already have my CT / DT number. I need to update my marks / CGPA in my application form. How can I do so?
Yes, you can update your application according to your latest details.
I am not able to edit the Full-time / Part-time course in my Application Form. What should I do?

I have created 2 profiles. What should I do now?
Only 1 profile is permitted per candidate. Duplicate profile creation will lead to disqualification of the candidate from TCS Fresher Hiring Process. Please write to ilp.support@tcs.com for the deletion of your duplicate profile.
How will I know about my test schedule / test related information?
You will receive the emails for all information.
How will we get the results of the test?
Shortlisted candidates will receive further communicat ion on the next steps on their registered email IDs from TCS Talent Acquisition Team.
What documents are required for the TCS selection process?
You must have all your X, XII, Diploma (if applicable), UG and PG (if applicable) academic marksheets, semester and degree certificates. Original documents will be verified at the time of interview as well as joining.

What documents are required if I have work experience?
If you are a candidate with work experience, you have to provide experience related documents from all the previous organization/s such as Experience Letter or Release Letter or documents wherein date of joining (DOJ) and date of release are clearly mentioned.
Where can I view my completed registration details? How can I edit my submitted application?
You can view the registration details from ‘Track My Application” on the “TCS Next Step” page, using your TCS credentials. You can edit your application on or before the registration closure date.
What happens if I am unable to give the NQT because of power failure or due to my inability to travel to the test center?
- For Online Remote Proctored Assessment:
In genuine cases, as confirmed by the remote proctor who is monitoring your test, you will be given additional time in line with the time lost due to such issues, up to a maximum of 30 minutes. You can also take the next NQT, in the next cycle, as and when the dates are announced.
- For In-Centre Assessment:
Since NQTs are planned to be conducted every quarter, you can take the next NQT, in the next cycle, as and when the dates are announced
How do I familiarize myself with Online Remote Proctored Assessment? If I face any issues during the test, whom should I reach out to?
TCS iON will share links for taking mock tests on your registered email ID. You can take the mock test to familiarise yourself with the whole test. If you face any issues during the test, you can reach out to the TCS iON HelpDesk (1800 266 6282) for support.
How will the results be communicated?
After you complete the test, results will be screened and your scores will be shared to your registered email ID and mobile number that you provided during the test registration. This may take up to 3 days. In case you do not get your score within 3 days, you can reach out to TCS iON HelpDesk (1800 266 6282).
Which year of passing (YoP) is being considered for the TCS Fresher Hiring Process through the TCS NQT?
Candidates graduating in the year 2024 with the following academic degrees: Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) / Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Master of Technology (M.Tech.) / Master of Engineering (M.E.) / Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) / Master of Science (M.Sc. / M.S.) in any specialization offered by AICTE / UGC recognized universities / colleges would be considered.
