HR Interviewers often ask questions about one medical health condition. Questions like “Do you have any medical issues?” or “Do you have any health problems?” are often asked in companies like Amazon and Google. On this page, we have given a guide on how you can answer this question in interviews.

The purpose of asking this question is simply to see whether the candidate has any medical condition that in the future can lead to them not being able to work. This is an important question and a tricky one at that. A candidate with a concerning medical condition, might not be able to give their best performance. Similarly, HR or management might give lesser opportunities (promotion, business trips, etc) to an employee with health issues.
Although this sounds like a simple question, you need to answer it carefully. Serious medical conditions refer to heart diseases, lung problems, basically any condition for which you need to visit doctors regularly, and might have restrictions on travel. Issues like cold, flu and cough do not fall in this category.

I do not suffer from any serious health issues.
I have a slight issue where I sometimes get headaches from staring at a computer screen for a lengthy period of time. I have visited an ophthalmologist, who has prescribed me some medicines and I try to rest my eyes for a few minutes between work. It has not really affected my performance in previous jobs, and the condition is mostly under control.
Not really a serious condition, but I do have certain allergies. Like I am allergic to nuts and garlic. So it is difficult for me to eat certain foods. And I have to carry some medicines with me. But this has never affected my work or job before.

It depends on the company and the profile. For a profile where the employee is required to move around or do a lot of physical work having medical conditions will hamper their work.

It is never recommended to lie or give false information in an interview. Be honest with the interviewer about your medical conditions, and as mentioned above, convince the interviewer that your medical issues will not affect your productivity.
