The action of beating his bunch of grass against his knees gives an instance to the author that the elephant is very much calm and dignified as it is very free about the same. The act gives a very affectionate display to the author.

By reading the line - I had never shot an elephant and never wanted to. (Somehow it always seems worse to kill large animal.) This clarifies that the author does not hold no prior experience of shooting an elephant or any other large animal.

By reading above passage, It gives us a clear idea that author is kind and considerate as he had given a thought to what he saw and inferred from the on spot situation.

In the last line of the passage, It is clearly written - 'The work does the work that good health possible. ' which means that a healthy man should be concerned with his work which good health makes possible.

This passage tell us about what healthy man should or should not do as it is signified from the passage lines -'The healthy man should not be wasting time talking about health: he should be using health for work.'

In 7th and 8th line of the passage, it is clearly stated that talking about the health all time make people often suffer from imaginary illness.

The passage suggests that health is only means to an end.

The understanding between the nations has increased when many nations are brought in close to one another for good and evil, it has been noticed that their gross ignorance of one another has diminished over the years.

The segement - 'This would be corrected if we knew the history, not necessarily in detail but in broad outlines, of the social and political conditions which have given to each nation its present character' gives us an inference that social and political conditions  are somewhat responsible for the current character of the nation.

Our genuine goodwill and good intentions are often brought to nothing, because we expect other people to be like us. This segment of paragraph suggests that the countrymen of author's place have better understanding of other nations.
