Puzzle on Fill the Buckets

Ajay is given a task to fill the buckets with 11 liters of water. He has only 2 jugs – 5 liters and 4 liters. We have mentioned the Premise, Rule, and Objective of Fill the Bucket Puzzle. Read those instructions carefully and solve the question.

  • Premise – In the puzzle, Ajay has to fill the bucket with 11 liters of water.
  • Rule – Ajay has jugs of quantity 5 liters and 4 liters.
  • Objective – Using these, how will Ajay achieve the task of filling a bucket exactly with 11 liters of water using these two jugs only?

Solution for the given Puzzle

Step 1:-

  • Fill in the 5 liters jug and then empty it into the bucket.
  • Bucket quantity:- 5 liters

Step 2:-

  • Fill in the 4 liters jug and empty it into the bucket
  • Bucket quantity- (5+4)= 9 litres.

Step 3:-

  • For the remaining 2 liters.
  • Fill in the 5 liters jug and empty it into the 4 liters jug.
  • 1 liter will remain in the jug, empty this is in the bucket.
  • Bucket quantity:- (9+1)=10 litres.
  • Repeat the above process one more time.
  • Bucket quantity=(10+1)=11 litres
