The Working of eLitmus Marking Scheme

So This is how it works. If you attempt a section and answer it right you will be scoring a +10 marks per question but if you answer a question wrong then this is how negative marking works.

  • If you do more than 25% questions wrong of the total attempt then for rest of every wrong answer half mark will be deducted.
  • If you attempt more than 1/4th of total questions wrong then you get negative marking.

For example:-

  • If 12 questions are attempted, and 25%(1/4) questions are wrong i.e. 3 questions are wrong, and 9 are correct, then there is no negative marking. Though, if the you answer 8 correct and 4 wrong, negative marks will be for the 4th not for first three.
  • Negative markings are section wise not for the complete test.

Let us give you more examples regarding this:-

To give you about a better idea of the functioning of the marking scheme we will br providing you some examples of calculated eLitmus pH exam Scores.

EXAMPLE 1:

If a person X attempted 17 question in the whole of the test and managed to score 26.30 marks in Quants, 30 marks in problem solving or Logical and 56.30 marks in Verbal respectively and have attempted 5 questions in Quants, then 3 questions in Logical and 9 questions in Verbal then this is how his marks must have been calculated.

Quants :  3/5

  1. 30 marks for 3 correct answers.
  2. Allowed incorrect = 1.25 = 25% of 5.
  3. Your incorrect = 2 = 40%
  4. Negative marking on (2 – 1.25) = 0.75.
  5. Penalty = -5
  6. Total deducted = -5 x 0.75 = -3.75.
  7. Final score = 30 – 3.75 = 26.25 => Rounded to 26.30

Logical : 3/3

Verbal : 6/9

  1. 60 marks for 6 correct answers
  2. Allowed incorrect = 2.25 = 25% of 9
  3. Your incorrect = 3 = 33%
  4. Negative Marking on (3 – 2.25) = 0.75
  5. Penalty = -5
  6. Total deducted = -5 x 0.75 = -3.75
  7. Final Score = 60 – 3.75 = 56.30

EXAMPLE 2 :

If a person Y attempted 31 question in the whole of the test and managed to score 56.30 marks in Quants, 100 marks in problem solving or Logical and 60 marks in Verbal respectively and have attempted 9 questions in Quants, then 10 questions in Logical and 12 questions in Verbal then this is how his marks must have been calculated.

Quants : 6/9

  1. 60 marks for 6 correct answers
  2. Allowed incorrect = 2.25 = 25% of 9
  3. Your incorrect = 3 = 33%
  4. Negative Marking on (3 – 2.25) = 0.75
  5. Penalty = -5
  6. Total deducted = -5 x 0.75 = -3.75
  7. Final Score = 60 – 3.75 = 56.30

Logical : 10/10

Verbal : 7/12

  1. 70 marks for 7 correct answers
  2. Allowed incorrect = 3 = 25% of 12
  3. Your incorrect = 5 = 41.6%
  4. Negative Marking on (5 – 3) = 2
  5. Penalty = -5
  6. Total deducted = -5 x 2 = -10
  7. Final Score = 70 -10 = 60

Basically The formula for finding the score is : (Correct x 10) – (( Incorrect – 25 % of Attempted ) x 5)
