Meesho Interview Experience

Candidate 1: Ankit Sharma (SDE)

Profile: B.Tech in Computer Science

Interview Outcome: Selected

Round 1: Online Test: The coding test had 5 questions covering data structures, algorithms, and debugging. Questions ranged from medium to hard difficulty.

  • Given an array, find the maximum sum of a subarray of size k.

  • Debug a piece of code that is supposed to reverse a linked list but isn’t working correctly.

Round 2: Technical Interview: Focused on system design and data structures.

The interviewer asked me to design an LRU Cache and explain its implementation.

  • Explain how you would implement a hashmap from scratch.

  • How would you handle concurrency in your LRU Cache implementation to ensure thread safety?
  • If the cache size is very large, how would you optimize memory usage while maintaining efficient eviction?

Round 1: Hiring Manager Interview: A mix of technical and behavioral questions. I was asked about my previous projects and my problem-solving approach.

  • How do you prioritize tasks when working on multiple projects?

  • What would you do if you were given a tight deadline for a project?

Tip: Focus on optimizing your code and be clear with your explanations. Debugging questions are crucial.

Candidate 2: Rahul (Software Development Engineer )

Round 1: Online Assessment (OA)
The first round was an online coding test conducted on HackerRank. It consisted of 3 coding questions to be solved in 90 minutes:

  • Question 1: A medium-level problem on arrays and sorting (e.g., finding the minimum number of swaps to sort an array).
  • Question 2: A graph-based problem involving BFS/DFS (e.g., finding the shortest path in a maze).
  • Question 3: A dynamic programming problem (e.g., the classic 0/1 knapsack problem).

Round 2: Technical Interview 1
This round focused on data structures and algorithms. The interviewer asked:

  • Problem on finding the longest palindromic substring in a string.

  • Question on designing an efficient algorithm for a real-world scenario (e.g., optimizing delivery routes for Meesho sellers).

Round 3: Technical Interview 2
This round was more about system design. The interviewer asked:

  • Design a scalable URL shortening service like Bitly.

  • Questions on database design and caching strategies (e.g., Redis vs. Memcached).

Round 4: HR Interview
The HR round was conversational. Questions included:

  • Why do you want to join Meesho?

  • How do you handle failure?

  • What are your long-term career goals?

Tips from Rahul:

  • Practice coding on platforms like LeetCode and CodeChef.

  • Focus on system design concepts, especially scalability and caching.

  • Be honest and confident during the HR interview.

Candidate 3: Sneha (Frontend Developer)

Profile: B.E in Electronics and Communication

Interview Outcome: Rejected after Technical Interview

Round 1: Online Test: Covered sorting algorithms, recursion, and a debugging problem. Completed all but one question.

  • Write a program to sort an array using merge sort.

  • Debug a recursive function that calculates the factorial of a number but isn’t working correctly.

Round 2: Technical Interview: Focused on coding challenges. I was asked to implement a Trie and solve a shortest path problem.

  • Design a data structure to efficiently store and search words from a dictionary.

  • Find the minimum number of steps required for a knight to reach a target position on a chessboard.

Round 3: Hiring Manager Interview (Skipped): Since I didn’t clear the technical round, I did not proceed further.

Tip: Ensure you revise all important data structures like Trees, Graphs, and Tries.”

Candidate 4: Naina (SDE)

Profile: M.Tech in Information Technology

Interview Outcome: Selected

Experience:

  • Online Test: 4 coding problems based on graphs, trees, and dynamic programming. One debugging-based question.
  • Technical Interview: Instead of system design, my round was more focused on problem-solving using dynamic programming.
  • Hiring Manager Interview: The manager asked about my approach to learning new technologies and my adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Tip: Be prepared to explain your thought process for every problem, not just the final solution.
