Student Interview
I saw on LinkedIn that an off-campus recruitment drive was going to be conducted by the ZS Associates through AMCAT. I logged in to the aspiring minds website and registered for the examination. While preparing for the paper, I solved various previous year test papers that are available on PrepInsta. I noticed a pattern that the primary focus was on Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation questions. Therefore, I prepared thoroughly for topics such as Data Sufficiency, Probability, Graphs, Pie Charts, and Speed Time and Distance.
Hirepro Written Paper
There were five sections in this test, i.e., Quantitative Analysis, English, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, Domain Test, and Computer Programming. The total time allotted for this round was 90 minutes.
Quantitative Analysis Section- There were questions related to basic, applied and engineering mathematics. In total there were 16 questions and the sectional time cut off was 18 minutes. The questions were of moderate difficulty level. Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation – This section had 14 questions and the time frame was of 16 minutes. This was a very tricky section. The questions were based on, Deductive, Abductive, and Inductive Reasoning. The difficulty Level was also high.
Hirepro Personality Test – This section was common to all the students. There were 100 MCQ type questions asked on topics and situations related to the daily lives of an individual.
After 90 minutes, the paper was auto-submitted. The results were declared after 14 days. I managed to score 88 percentile. After the results were announced, I received an email from ZS Associates that my score has been shortlisted, and I was called for the further interview process.
Face to Face Interview
Interview Round 1
Interviewer: If you have to open a restaurant in your city, what factors will you consider?
Me: At first, the location, the type of restaurant, and the age group of people around that particular locality are the key factors.
Interviewer: Why? Please elaborate.
Me: The location is always the most crucial factor. If it is not in the approach of everyone, how will the customers come? Secondly, the type of the restaurant, for example, a café, or a fast-food joint will work great if there are many youngsters or people in the age group of 16-25 in that locality or nearby that place. For this, we can conduct surveys that what new people are looking for and what are their preferences.
Interviewer: OK, then what will be the other factors after these primary factors have been sorted?
Me: Sir, capital investment is also a primary factor.
Interviewer: If you have the same restaurant near how will you make the customers come to your restaurant?
Me: I can decrease the cost to gain customers.
Interviewer: But then you will go in loss.
Me: For a long-term, a loss for the first few months can be neglected for gaining the loyal customers.
He asked me some 3-4 questions related to database, Statistics and then I left.
Interview Round 2
The interviewer gave me a Case Study for Burger King and asked me to go through it thoroughly. After 20 minutes, he began asking me questions related to the Case Study. He
gave me a sheet of paper and asked me to draw a rough business plan for opening Burger King in a small town. After I outlined the business plan, he went through it and asked me some more questions based on the plan. Then he asked me to guesstimate for the setup, and will it be profitable? I was given some more questions related to sale statistics and others. At last, he gave me some problems, which I don’t remember exactly, but they were related to the database only. After that, I left.
HR Round
I was seated at the reception, when the receptionist called my name and asked me to move to the HR cabin for my next interview round. I asked her the direction to the cabin and went. After I entered, the HR smiled at me and asked me to come in. She asked me to introduce myself; then she directly moved to questions. She gave me some database puzzles to solve, following this she gave me some hypothetical situation that if a company is going into losses so as a data analyst of the company what key factors will you suggest to help the company get out of those losses. Then she discussed my academic career, that why I have a gap of 8 months between studies and job. She explained to me the policies of the company, and at last, she asked if I had any doubts. To which I answered no and left. She asked me to wait outside. After 30 minutes she came out and with a smile handed me the offer letter.
