Let Ram’s age = A and Shyam's age = B
Given: B + 3A = 70 and 3B + A = 98.

putting value of A  from equation (1) to  equation (2) we get

3B + ( 70 - B )/3  = 98

70 - B + 9B = 98(3)

8B = 98(3) - 70

B = 28

Hence Shyam's age = 28 years
