What is Google Girl Hackathon 2023?

Google Girl hackathon is diversity program for girls who are associated with computer science or its related field to showcase their coding skills, innovation and promote creative solution for real time technical problems. It will be a virtual program, girls will have to compete in the online coding round and the selected student from the coding round will be provided a training to help them in the project.

This year’s hackathon is organised individually, and each participant must register in order to participate in the event.

The hackathon’s several stages is separated out over a period of 6 weeks, and participants are expected to be available to work on the challenge throughout this time as they proceed further to next step.

Eligibility Criteria for Google Girl Hackathon 2023

Students need to fulfil these criteria in order to complete the registration successfully for the hackathon :

  • It is a women only oriented program.
  • The aspired candidate must be of an Engineering college in India and also studying in that college during the time registration.
  • Students enrolled in the year 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 only are eligible for the hackathon registration. 
  • Students should have enrolled in Computer science and its allied branches.
  • Only Indian National students are allowed to participate in the program.
  • Enroll with your personal valid credentials during the time of registration.
  • Students must have an updated Resume for the registration.

Structure of the Program:

This year’s hackathon is an individual participant hackathon which includes three rounds : Google Online Challenge, Learning Cohorts, Virtual Ideathon Round.

Round 1 : Google online Challenge (GOC)

  • It is a coding challenge round that will assess candidate in the area of coding and puzzle field.
  • Candidate will be provided with 2 coding questions for which you will get a time limit of 60 minutes.
  • Results of this online challenge will be provided shortly after the exam.
  • Passed candidate will receive an email to proceed further for the next round.

Round 2 : Learning Cohorts & Assignment Evaluation

  • Participants who pass Round 1 will be invited to join the Google Learning Cohorts which is an an immersive experience for participants to learn from Googlers thereby creating a supportive and collaborative environment for learning.
  • Participants will get to work on specific workshops on such topics that will allow them to grow their profile in the world of engineering.
  • Virtual Classroom learning Model: In this, participants will undergo workshops and training to help equip them to work holistically on problem statements. 
  • After the workshops participants would be provided with assignments which they will need to complete and submit within the given time limit.
  • Evaluation: After the submission of the assignments it will be evaluated by the google engineers.

Round 3 : Virtual Ideathon & Final Presentation

  • Candidates who performed well in Round 1 and 2 will move forward to the third round which has two parts.
  • Part 1: In the first part candidates will have to submit their idea and the code repository to a themed technical challenge. As per their performance they will be invited to the next part.
  • Part 2: Final Presentation, code repository will be reviewed the engineers, then the participants will be invited to present their solutions to the judges.
  • Final Winners and Runners Up will be identified post the live presentation round
