Student Interview

Virtusa conducted an on-campus placement drive at our college last year. Before the interview process began our training and placement officer asked us to assemble in the hall and gave us a brief introduction about the company, its eligibility criteria, and interview process. There weren’t many questions in my head as I already knew about the company from PrepInsta. Virtusa is amongst the best place to work and begin the career.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students from all streams of BE/B.TECH
  • Students from the computer science field
  • 65% in BE/B.TECH
  • 60% marks in 10th and 12th

Our professor informed us that we have to complete four rounds to crack the interview. The four rounds were:

  1. Online Written Test
  2. Group Discussion
  3. Technical Interview Round
  4. HR Interview Round

Online Written Test

The written test included five types of questions, which were verbal, quants, reasoning, computer programming, and automata coding. These questions carried no negative marking. This round was pitifully easy for me as I already practiced through PrepInsta’s sample papers. About 60% of the questions were from PrepInsta’s study material. The question asked were from topics:

Group Discussion Round

After the written test round, those who cleared it were asked to assemble outside the auditorium for group discussion. In this round, we were given a topic on which we have to speak. The topic given to me was “Social Media: A bane or boon for the society.” Through this round, the interviewer wanted to check our communication skills, convincing power, leadership qualities, and adaptability to work along with a team. As I have strong communication skills, I was successful in impressing the interview community and cleared the second round also.

Technical Interview Round

The interviewer who took my interview was the Senior Software Engineer of the company. He asked me what are my preferred programming language and why? Then he asked me a few questions from core C and C++, polymorphism, and few questions on Variables. Then he drew some patterns and asked me to frame the logic for them. I answered the questions with full confidence, and the interview lasted for about 25-30 minutes. Then I was asked to wait for the results.

HR Round

I cleared the technical round and was selected for the final HR round. HR asked me what I know about the company and why I want to join it. Later he asked for my resume and asked me to introduce myself. He then asked me, what are my expectations and future plans, and if I am okay with shifting to another state. The interview went well, and I cleared my first interview with Virtusa.
