Student Interview

Reliance Jio conducted an on-campus drive for the position of a Graduate Engineer trainee in my college last year. They offered the job profile of a System Engineer with a CTC of 3.5 LPA. I did hear from my seniors that Reliance Jio conducts the toughest and very fast pace interviews because they are looking for no less than the best. I went through many sites for my preparation, but the best one out of all was PrepInsta.

The list of the rounds and the eligibility criteria were mailed to us by our Training and Placement Officer (TPO). There were five rounds in total, an L0 Interview, L1 Interview, a Group Discussion round, and the Final Interview

Eligibility Criteria

  • No year gap
  • Minimum 6.0 CGPI and above

L0 Interview:

This was a technical round were I was asked two coding questions and the time given to me was around 45mins.

Written Test

The written test had four sections,

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Numerical Ability
  • Basic Programming Questions
  • Coding questions

The total time allotted was 75 minutes, which were distributed as 20 questions from logical, numerical ability, basic programming questions, coding questions in which 2 questions from coding sections. Most of the students successfully cleared this round, as the questions were quite easy and there was no negative marking.

Group Discussion Round

This GD round was more of a filtration round. We were divided into a group of 10 and were allotted 15-20 minutes to speak on the given topic. At the end of this round, only 17 candidates were left out of 89.

Final Interview Round

Technical Round

There were five interviewers in the panel. They asked me about my final year project and a few questions about data science. Some of the questions were:

  • Write the algorithm for bubble sort.
  • Write a code for finding the sum of all nodes in a binary tree.
  • They asked me to code the merge function using the merge sort.

The interview went for like 40-50 minutes.

HR Round

The HR gave me a smile when I entered and offered me a glass of water. After this, she asked for my resume and gave it a thorough look. She asked me a few questions,

  • What’s your strength?

My strengths include my ability to work well in a team, my level of organization, my ability to remain calm under pressure, and my consistent adherence to my verbal commitments.

  • Why should we hire you?

I am someone who thinks their personality will be a huge advantage to an employer, not least because of my commitment to my work, my readiness to go above and beyond what is required, as well as my appetite for learning and developing new skills. I think these qualities make me suitable for this role.

  • Any plans for further studies like M.B.A. and M. Tech?

My current top priority is to work for the company, develop, and upgrade my skills. I believe that pursuing higher education is necessary in order to get a career growth, I will most certainly do so.

The HR round got over within 25 minutes. The results were announced, and I was selected as the System Engineer at Reliance Jio.
