Student Interview
I applied at Reliance Jio for the post of Graduate Engineer Trainee when it came for the pool campus recruitment drive in 2018 at our college. The interview process was quite easy, but the only difference was that there were two group discussion rounds, which I never came across in any interview process previously. For interview preperation, I went through many tips and tricks and previous year question papers available at PrepInsta. The website provided detailed syllabus which was very helpful for me.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 6.0 CGPI and above
- No year gap
Online Written Test
Name of the Sections | Number of Questions | Difficulty Level | Time Limit per section (minutes) |
Quantitative Analysis | 10 | Medium | 10 |
Verbal Ability | 10 | Easy | 10 |
Logical and Data Interpretation | 10 | Moderate | 10 |
Psychometric Test | 50 | Moderate | 12 |
Technical Test | 30 | Hard | 30 |
The aptitude round was straightforward as I already practiced from the questions available on PrepInsta, and some of the questions in quants and technical section were the same that I studied on the website.
Group Discussion
This round was divided into two sections:
- Group Discussion 1
- Group Discussion 2
Students had to score a minimum of 75% in both the GD rounds to move forward for the face to face interview round.
Group Discussion 1
In the first round, our topic was Acid Attacks. Two interviewers were judging us on communication skills and our competitive tone. Time allotted to each group was 20 minutes.
Group Discussion 2
For this round, our topic was Indian Juvenile Courts. Again the criteria and the allotted time was the same as that of the first round. I scored a total of 79% and cleared the GD round successfully.
Face to Face Interview Round
This round consisted:
- Technical Round
- HR Round
Technical Round
The interviewers sitting in the panel majorly asked me questions related to networking and basics of computer science. Some of the questions they asked me were:
- Write the algorithm for a merge sort.
- How do you send data packets?
- Explain the significance of an IP address.
- Use the merge algorithm for implementing merge sort on a series of numbers.
- Explain the handshake algorithm.
- Draw the OSI Model.
- Differentiate between a Hub and a Switch.
The interviewers were quite impressed with my confidence. They smiled at me and shook hands with me when I left, which gave me a confidence that I have cleared this round. Out of the 49 students, only me and seven others were shortlisted for the HR round.
HR Round
The HR asked me very few questions such as:
- Introduce yourself
- Why do you want to be a part of our company
- State your weakness and strengths.
This round went for like 10 minutes, and the HR handed me the offer letter then and there.
