Student Interview
Reliance Jio conducted an on-campus drive for the position of a Graduate Engineer trainee in my college last year. They offered the job profile of a System Engineer with a CTC of 3.5 LPA. I did hear from my seniors that Reliance Jio conducts the toughest and a very fast pace interviews because they are looking for no less than the best. I went through many sites for my preparation, but the best one out of all was PrepInsta.
The list of the rounds and the eligibility criteria were mailed to us by our Training and Placement Officer (TPO). There were five rounds in total, Written Test, followed by 2 Group Discussion Rounds, 1 Technical and 1 HR Round.
Eligibility Criteria
- No year gap
- Minimum 6.0 CGPI and above
Written Test
The written test had five sections,
- Quants
- Logical
- Verbal
- Psychometric Test
- Coding
The total time allotted was 72 minutes, which were distributed as 30 minutes for Quants, Verbal, Logical; 12 minutes for Psychometric Test, and the rest 30 for the Coding round. Most of the students successfully cleared this round, as the questions were quite easy and there was no negative marking.
Group Discussion Round 1
We were divided into a group of 10, and each group was given a different topic. The time limit for the entire discussion was 15- 20 minutes. The interviewers were checking the confidence and communication skills of students. About 25% of students were rejected after this round.
Group Discussion Round 2
The round 2 was more of a filtration round. We were again divided into a group of 10 and were allotted 15-20 minutes to speak on the given topic. At the end of this round, only 17 candidates were left out of 89.
Technical Round
There were five interviewers in the panel. They asked me about my final year project and a few questions about data science. Some of the questions were:
- How would you find an eigen from a given Matrix?
- Write the algorithm for bubble sort.
- They asked me to code the merge function using the merge sort.
The interview went for like 40-50 minutes.
HR Round
The HR gave me a smile when I entered and offered me a glass of water. After this, she asked for my resume and gave it a thorough look. She asked me a few questions,
- What’s your strength?
- What was your JEE rank?
- Why should we hire you?
- Any plans for further studies like M.B.A. and Mtech?
The HR round got over within 25 minutes. The results were announced, and I was selected as the System Engineer at Reliance Jio.
