Automata Fix Questions
Cognizant has introduced a new section called CTS Automata Fix Questions and Answers and in this section, you will have to debug and correct the codes given –
You will be given the option before the test where in you can choose any of the three languages, which are –
- C
- C++
- Java

CTS Automata Fix based Questions
You are required to fix all logical errors in the given code. You can click on Compile & Run anytime to check the compilation/execution status of the program. You can use System.out.println to debug your code. The submitted code should be logically/syntactically correct to pass all the test cases.
Do non write the main() function as it is not required.
Note before anything the check this link as we have made this page from open information provided on the official AMCAT website resources here.
- Basically Cognizant is checking the candidates ability to be able to code and specially debug an erroneous code and fix the same.
- The test provides a set of programs to the candidate, where they have to either debug them or right new functionality based on the given functions and code. Source for this
- It tests the candidate’s skill of being able to understand code written by someone else, be able to find bugs and also use the code to implement new functionality. This assessment is available across multiple programming languages.
Questions for CTS Automata fix will be added soon to this page. Till then you can check the CTS Preparation Page here.
What cognizant is checking basically –
- Boundary value condition check
- In many cases like in for loops, the boundary values may cause issues like writing for(i=0;i<n;i++) may give different result and for for(i=0;i<=n;i++) may give different results
- Knowledge of data sets like int, float, double etc.
- In some code they may try to assign a mismatched data type value and that may cause error. Like forcefully putting string value in int.
- Knowing functions, precision values, signed and usigned int.
- You are required to fix all logical errors in the given code. You can click on Compile and Run anytime to check the compilation/execution status of the program.
- The submitted code should be logically/syntactically correct and pass all testcases. Do not write the main() function as it is not required.
- In some cases the function compiles successfully but fails to return the desired result due to logical errors. Your task is to debug the program to pass all the test cases.
- In some code writing cases you can Click on Helper Code tab to find out the details of functions/ classes provided for reuse.
- For any question, you will need to correct a given implementation. We do not expect you to modify the approach or incorporate any additional library methods.
