Student Interview

Like every year, this year also MindTree conducted interviews for the selection of new candidates. I learned about the interview procedure from my friends and seniors before I appeared for the rounds.

The academic criteria is that the students must have a technical background such as B.tech/BCA/MCA/BE and education gap of two or less than two years, just in case.

The company divided placement process into three stages:

  • Written Test (AMCAT)
  1. Verbal
  2. Quants
  3. Logical Reasoning
  4. Coding Questions
    1. Technical Interview
    2. HR Interview

Written Test and Coding

The stage of written examination comprised of 85 minutes, from which 74 questions were to be attended. I was less anxious and worried as I already prepared well for the AMCAT exam. But, simultaneously, I knew I had to clear this round to make it to the next level. The written test comprised of four rounds in total:

  1. Verbal

The English verbal sections were inclusive of questions related to grammatical errors, reading comprehensions, and correction of sentences.

  1. Quants

The topics covered under this section were from Average, Time and Work, Simplification, Profit and Loss, Probability, and Percentage.

  1. Logical Reasoning

This was the toughest part of the written test. The questions of logical reasoning were from coding-decoding and deciphering seating arrangements.

  1. Coding

The section included two questions related to coding, in which we were asked to provide code in any language of our choice. The difficulty level was high and thus, the time allotted for this section was sufficient.

The online test results were declared and I was happy to see the positive results.

Almost half of the day was finished but still, we were looking forward to the Technical and HR Interview with total enthusiasm. I spent the break revising some of the technical questions on PrepInsta.

Technical Interview

I entered the room where the interviewer was sitting. After the general introduction, he started asking questions. The difficulty level of the questions was high as it were from the topics such as:

  • Micro-controller
  • Operating Systems
  • Digital Electronics
  • C Language and coding

Fortunately, I was able to respond to most of the questions with their appropriate answers. The interviewer with least facial expressions said: “Thank You”.

HR Interview

After crossing the above rounds satisfactorily, I was looking forward to having a good talk session in this round. As the roles and responsibilities signify, he was humble and started with the “Greetings of the day”. The round was better from the previous ones, the questions were related to:

  • Family Background
  • Location Preferences
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
  • Internships

As the session of questions and answers got completed, he jumped to the salary discussion. Everyone who appears for this round, must possess two factors: positive and confident outlook.
